This is absolutely one of my favorite cookbooks – and I own a LOT of them! It does exactly what it states: offer a great selection of fish recipes and vegetarian dishes. Such a unique combination and the perfect cookbook for pescatarians and vegetable lovers alike.

I discovered Tom Walton through Instagram, as he is not widely known in the Netherlands. Which is a shame, because all of his recipes have that brilliant Aussie vibe of being healthy, gorgeous and delicious. The combination of ingredients and flavours is right up my alley. So simple and so fresh!


How much fish, how much veg?
All recipes in this cookbook are vegetable centered. Even the recipes that also feature fish as an ingredient. The base is almost always lots of vegetables and fresh herbs, often with grains or beans. About half of them also feature fish. As an ingredient in – or topping on – a salad, grilled or roasted on its own, or in combination with vegetables from the oven or pan.

The cookbook has four sections, spring to winter. But honestly, I couldn’t really tell. The autumn and winter recipes are just as fresh and colourful as the spring and summer ones. It’s mostly about the sustainability of eating a fish when it’s in season. There’s loads of salads and grain bowls and lots of grilled and oven roasted recipes.


How accessible is More Fish More Veg?
Good to know: most recipes are main courses. Some you could also serve as a starter or side. None of them require difficult skills. There’s a section in the book about cleaning fish, but the fish recipes are truly very simple to make. I sometimes have to change the type of fish I use, according to availability (and price) where I live. Which is totally fine!


Who will like More Fish More Veg?
Anyone who loves vibrant healthy meals that look and taste amazing will love this cookbook! Also great if you are looking to prepare more fish at home, but are a bit scared. Tom Walton truly has your back and this cookbook helps you see how easy it really is.
